Telehandler tip in Florida

A telehandler tipped across a road in Melbourne Florida, south west of Orlando, today, the road was blocked for some time but no one was seriously injured.

The operator was travelling on the road near Melbourne airport, with the boom fully elevated and a primitive jib or special fork extension fitted on which a number of long steel joists/roof beams were suspended.

The road was closed while the emergency services recovered the stricken telehandler. The operator received minor injuries.

Vertikal Comment

This looks like a classic case of a swinging load on a fully raised, although retracted boom pulling the telehandler over sideways. There is one thing doing this manoeuvre on a closed job site, quite another doing it on the public highway. It is lucky that the machine did not fall on to a car or pedestrian.
